Built in 1628 by John Erskine, Earl of Mar, it originally served as a hunting lodge and a strategic stronghold in the Highlands. Over the centuries, the castle experienced periods of conflict and change, including being burned during the Jacobite unrest of the late 17th century and later used as a government garrison. It eventually became associated with the Farquharson clan of Invercauld, who restored it as a family residence in the 19th century and welcomed notable visitors, including Queen Victoria. It is owned by the community.Braemar VillageBraemar is a small Highland village, located in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Around 339 m above sea level, making it one of the highest villages in the UK. Inside, you can see original machinery—much of it still belt-driven—being used to card, spin, and weave wool in much the same way it has been done for generations.Craigellachie BridgeCraigellachie Bridge is a cast-iron arch bridge across the River Spey at Craigellachie, near the village of Aberlour in Moray, Scotland. It was designed by the renowned civil engineer Thomas Telford and built from 1812 to 1815.
